Today’s at home weight lifting session...which is always harder because there’s no coach and no motivation other than my 13 month old clapping for me 😂Squat Snatch Session & one power snatch which was supposed to be a squat snatch and turned into a not very explosive snatch that I had to muscle up! I took my first PRI course this weekend - Integration for Fitness & Movement - loved it! I have a much deeper understanding and appreciation for our bodily systems and why imbalances/asymmetries exist. We’re born like that, and we can learn to manage our positions VERY effectively through respiration.

One of my greatest takeaways:  Our abdominal muscles are designed to control, guide and manage respiration. Therefore “core stability” is not their primary function. It would make more sense to say that “mobile” stability is functional, as posture is indeed dynamic.
.
I decided to apply these principles in my training:
.
1. Fully exhale to set my rib cage back, down and in. Shift weight to heels to help pelvis posterior rotate.
.
2. Bend at my hips and knees to grab the bar without compromising my trunk position, still breathing.
.
3. Shift weight back to my mid foot.
.
4. Un-turtle my neck (that’s my own special issue) before I extend my upper spine.
.
5. Take my big breath and fill my chest cavity - snatch.
.
This all felt way more natural and helped me feel “one with the bar.” I used to struggle keeping braced when I go to arch my back, which results in me hoping that I make the lift instead of confidently moving through it. This is a big improvement for me. And yes I see I still row the bar into my hips bc I’m RO. Jk I’ll fix that soon next step. #NOTatechniquepost

During the preparation phase of training we have dedicated days in both the snatch and clean (Monday for snatch, Wednesday for cleans) to help build positional strength while eliciting a specific training quality.

Some members of our competition team just wrapped up a 4 week training block designed to improve their EXPLOSIVE STRENGTH.  Our method for improving this training quality is through lifting from THE BLOCKS ABOVE THE KNEE.
.
This exercise not only helps to improve the athlete’s positional strength above the knee, but also helps to improve their ability to produce maximal amounts of force in the fastest time possible due to the shortened distance the bar has to travel to the point of explosion from the blocks as opposed to from the floor.

Hoje nem era dia de achar PR de Power Snatch, mas como sempre eu dei uma fugidinha do treino pra fazer isso, kkkkkkkkk e aumentei o tal do PR, de 55kgs(que já não subiam há algum tempo, porém hoje subiram facil), pra 57 kgs. .

PS.: Me desculpem o palavrão no final do vídeo, mas quebrar PR de SNATCH e com uma técnica melhor do que antigamente é bom demaissssss. Que venham os proximos 💪🏋️😍❤️
