New day & it’s just me against me πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ Time to hustle 😈 #letsdothis #ptvee

When life gives ya lemons... well sometimes there’s nothing you can do except with a smile throw a f*ing watermelon back and get on with it πŸ‹ πŸ˜‚ πŸ‰ 
I found out today after some blood and (I’ll just say “other”) tests, that I still have a parasite infection πŸ˜–
I’ve been gradually loosing weight the past few months and even with an increase in calories (like ++2600!!)I was still dropping size πŸ€”
Now I know my diet and training is good but this was getting ridiculous, and it’s not in my goals to be loosing weight at all πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ
Anyway, I’ve now found out I’ve been host to this little sucker since my trip to Bali last year in Sep😑 Because I’ve had glandular fever (pretty bad too) a few years ago for a parasite to be f*cking up my gut health for that long I’ll have to have some liver tests and make sure no long term damage has been done 😀
It’s good to finally have a reason behind it and a plan to move forward with... however it is also hell frustrating because even though my training and nutrition has been 100% focused and in line with my goals the process has been totally made void (I won’t say useless, even though I feel like it!). Oh well πŸ˜”
I’ll be on some medication after few more tests, to then rid the little buggers, and then I’ll rework on some digestive love via alkaline diet, enzyme and probiotic support. Hoping it wont take long to be back on track and seeing some gains return πŸ’ͺ🏼
Til then, I’ll just keep on keeping on and being me - that’s little (little) Vee πŸ™‡πŸΌ‍β™€οΈπŸ˜˜

1. KB Swings - always a fav! When focusing on glutes I keep the swing short and focus on that squeeze 😝
2. Bulgarian splits w KB - I really find this one hits my glutes perfectly as long as I have all my focus in that front standing foot πŸ’ͺ🏼
3. Frog jumps - love these to finish on as they get my heart rate up and absolutely burn the legs and quads to round up a solid workout πŸ”₯

No timer, no rep counting, no plan, just feeling my way through different stretches and movement as it came to me 🧘‍♀️
As a PT I am obviously a big believer in set programming - but I also love getting back to basics and just “feeling” what your body needs and going with the flow. This afternoon I did just that. I just started to stretch and move by my body’s intuition πŸ™ƒ
What felt tight I held a little longer, what was a tad sore I put a bit of wiggle in to help flush it out 🀸🏼‍♀️

I was trying to think last night of a Monday mantra for this week. It’s something I like to do - think of a little saying or quote (as corny as that is) that I can be motivated by throughout the week to do and give my best.
I thought about it for a while, and nothing was coming... so I sat and watched the storm roll in β›ˆ The storm last night in the GC was pretty eerie - the sky turned a dark grey than a really weird orange as thunder rolled through with the rain.
Jokingly I said “this could be the end of the world” and then to my boys “well that’s cool, I’ve had a pretty good run” 😜
It was a joke, the world wasnt ending and I’m sure if it was I wouldn’t be so cavalier about it. But then later, while thinking of my mantra for the coming week - that thought came back to me... If the world ended tomorrow could I truly smile on it’s becoming and say, “that’s ok, I’ve had a good run”?! πŸ€”
Got me thinking things like...
Am I proud of the person I am?
Do I make the most of every day to be better - to do better?
What big things are still out there waiting for me to achieve?
πŸ™ƒ
Thus, I got my mantra for the week... and it is...
“Smile, Live and Love like everyday could be your last ✨Live a life of no regrets and one that when it comes to the fateful end, you can look back and with undeniable honesty say - “damn I did it good didn’t I” πŸ˜‰β€οΈβœŒπŸΌ

I got half way through my first set, just felt tight and meh... so instead of struggling through and being cranky that I wasn’t feeling good - I instead said “tomorrow’s another day” and took Levi for a walk instead 🐢
Somedays you do need to push through, but others you just need to smile, give yourself a little reminder it’s not the end of the world, and walk away πŸ˜‰

PTVee FIT TIP: Split Squats πŸ‹οΈ‍♀️
The start and finish position of split squat πŸ‘‰πŸΌ
Start with one foot elevated and feet position in lunge stance. Never fully flex through knee/quad at top position but rather keep weight and focus in front foot to target/switch on the glute of the working leg. Instead of a lunge where you go straight down at 90degrees with the knee/ankle, in a split squat you want to push the knee forward as far over the ankle as you can. Should be able to have the hamstring hit the calf in that final position. Drive through the front foot, pushing the knee out as you come back to stand. PTVee FIT TIP: TRX Knee Tucks πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ
Try this for a killer abs exercise on own or as part of a full body circuit πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Start with feet in straps and high plank position. Bring the knees in right under chest creating a crunch/tuck position through the core. Release back into plank and repeat x8 πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Second type is to go side to side and target obliques. Same positioning but with control swing the knees around to tuck towards same side elbow/arm and then release back to centre before repeating on opposite side. Repeat again x8 🎯πŸ”₯ #abs #PTVee #fittip

It’s important in your programming to make sure there is plenty of single sided exercises to help work out any imbalances developing in the body 🀸🏼‍♂️It is also great way to increase strength and stability in various muscle groups and around major joints πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ
Try add these two single sided exercises to your next legs workout πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ
1) KB curtesy to lunge complex πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Hold KB I’m same side as working/stable leg. Perform a curtesy lunge then straight into a reverse lunges to equal 1 rep. Do 10 reps per side • 2) BB step ups πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Stay on the one leg for 10 reps making sure all the effort is coming from the foot/leg that’s on the step • #ptvee #fittip #workout

PTVee FIT TIP:Swiss ball hammy curls πŸ‘ These are great for hitting glutes but also killer on the hammys (as the name implies!) focus on keeping hips up and control of the ball. Squeeze glutes at top and I promise do ‘em right you’ll be feeling the goods tomorrow πŸ‘€πŸ˜‰πŸ˜#ptvee

🌟Day 10: SLEEP 😴 Seriously I need my sleep - who is with me?! Most of our trip away we didn’t hit the hay til after 12pm (my usual bedtime is more like 830/9pm!). Although we did sleep in, this pattern was way out of whack for what I like. I like the cycadian rhythm of rising with the sun and settling down for the night as sun sets. Sleep is super important for recovery, cognitive function, immune system revitalisation and support, digestion and your nervous system. So today I am up at 530am heading to my Friday morning stairs routine at Burleigh before morning PT sessions, and I’ll be in bed by 9pm (even if it is the kick off of my very tame hens weekend lol! Such a grandma πŸ‘΅πŸΌ whatever don’t care 😜).
That’s day 10 of my 10 day kickstart tips 🌟I hope you’ve enjoyed the journey too 🀸🏼‍♀️have a fab FRIYAY and weekend y’all ✌🏼#PTVee
