🏃🏼Can my Back Pain be caused by Foot Problems? 🤔

You are not alone! Also millions of people suffer with chronic back pain. Did you know that there is a good likelihood that lower back pain (LBP) can be related to your feet?

LBP is sometimes caused by over-pronation of the foot, which occurs when your foot rolls inward, and thus the leg itself begins to rotate inward. We know we dropped an Organic V’s Conventional farming bombshell on you earlier this week - so we thought we would follow up with a great way to help make organic more affordable. 
Check out these two photo’s listing what is known as the “The Dirty Dozen” and “The Clean 15”. The dirty dozen list shows the foods that are MOST affected and contaminated by pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilisers and antibiotics, whilst the clean 15 highlight the foods are least affected.

Here's a case study for all you clinicians and coaches out there.

Meet 'Jane', a fifteen year old girl who is captain of her school swim team, a big part of the track team, and she gets constant knee pain.

I'm trying to work with her physio (I say trying, but communication has been frustratingly one-way with said physio, as this is someone outside my referral network I have to keep doing my best to inform them of our progress and try to find out what the heck this clinician is doing in terms of long term planning for the young lass... still, an ache for another time) to bring Jane up to a minimum standard of acceptable movement because, and probably the most frustrating part of it all, the school is not respecting her limitation.

She can not run or swim without knee pain. But her trainings are 'compulsory', and her pain is being put down to "growing pain". She is literally beating herself up from the inside out. And you shouldn't have to look hard to see why - look at the way her hips, knees and ankles integrate through her gait cycle. This is low impact locomotion - why the hell is she being told it's OK to run and swim?

Let me be very blunt; if you are in pain, stop. Something is not working properly, and you need to have this assessed. Jane sees me once a week, just once, and I eliminate her knee pain in less than 30 seconds every single week (something her clinicians are yet to achieve), and we get close to 60 minutes of quality movement free from pain. We're improving performance by first addressing the barriers to her energy accessibility, namely her pain.

Why can a lowly cert 3 & 4 spud like myself see these things, and yet a tertiary educated group of individuals who should know better seem to be working against what is best for a fifteen year old girl who hasn't stopped growing yet, has minimal levels of proprioceptive control, and is being asked to perform tasks at high rate of force over and over and over again? Who is being held accountable for the damage being done to someone who doesn't know better, who is trusting us to make the best decisions on her health? This is my biggest pain point to date as a coach... We need to be better. #done
